Measuring & Planning
Planning a metal roofing project starts with accurate measurements. To help make the ordering process easier, Interstate Metals offers roof measuring assistance for a fee of $85.
We offer two methods for gathering roof measurements:
On-Site Measuring
We can send a member of our team to your project location to personally measure the roof and gather the information needed to help develop an estimate, cut list, or material list.
Aerial Roof Measurement
When available, we may also use an aerial photography measurement service, such as EagleView, to obtain roof dimensions and assist in preparing a project estimate or material list.
Both measuring options are intended to help customers plan their project and develop the information needed to order materials. However, all final cut lists, material lists, measurements, panel lengths, trim quantities, screw counts, and order details must be reviewed and approved by the customer before an order is placed.
As with all cut list and material estimating assistance, the final cut list or material list used for the order is the sole responsibility of the customer. Interstate Metals is not responsible for inaccuracies, omissions, changes, or errors in customer-approved measurements, cut lists, or material lists. Because panels and many trim items are custom cut or prepared specifically for each order, customers remain responsible for the cost of materials ordered from an approved list.
We’re happy to help with the measuring and planning process, but we encourage every customer to carefully review all project details before approving an order.
Cut List & Material Estimating Assistance
At Interstate Metals, we’re happy to help customers develop a cut list or material list for their project. This may include helping determine metal panel lengths, trim pieces, and estimating the number of screws needed for the job.
This service is provided as a courtesy to help customers plan their order more easily and confidently. However, all cut lists, material lists, screw counts, measurements, quantities, and related order details are ultimately the sole responsibility of the customer.
Because metal panels and many trim items are custom cut or prepared based on the information provided at the time of order, it is very important that customers carefully review and verify all measurements, lengths, quantities, colors, profiles, and materials before approving or submitting an order.
Interstate Metals is not responsible for inaccuracies, errors, omissions, or changes in customer-provided or customer-approved cut lists or material lists. If material is ordered and later determined to be incorrect due to an error in the cut list, measurements, quantities, or project details, the customer remains responsible for the cost of the material.
Due to the custom nature of these products, panels and custom or non-standard trim are non-returnable. Approved returns are limited to eligible items outlined in our return policy and may be subject to inspection and restocking fees.
We want to help you get exactly what you need — nothing more, nothing less — and we encourage all customers to double-check their project details carefully before placing an order.
Custom Panel Lengths
At Interstate Metals, every panel is made to fit your project. We do not inventory pre-cut panels, which means each panel is custom cut to the length needed for your order.
Whether you need short panels for soffits, small patches, repairs, or specialty applications, or full-length panels for roofing and siding projects, we can cut panels to the exact lengths specified on your order.
Our standard delivery capability allows us to provide panels up to 40 feet long, based on what our delivery trailer can safely haul. For customers needing panels longer than 40 feet, we can manufacture extended-length panels as long as the customer has a trailer long enough to safely transport them. Panels longer than 40 feet are available for pickup only and are not eligible for delivery.
Because all panels are custom cut, customers have greater flexibility and less waste compared to buying standard stock lengths. Panel lengths are produced according to the approved cut list, with an allowable manufacturing tolerance of 1/8 inch.
Please review all panel lengths carefully before placing your order. Since panels are custom cut to the lengths provided, all panels are non-returnable.
Custom Trim Designs
Every trim piece we manufacture starts from standard trim lengths of 10'3", with longer lengths available in 2-foot increments up to 20'3". We offer a variety of standard trim profiles designed to fit common metal roofing and siding applications.
However, not every project is standard — and that’s where custom trim comes in.
Interstate Metals can fabricate custom-designed trim pieces for unique, unusual, or odd-profile applications. Whether your project requires a modified version of a standard profile or a completely custom shape, our team can work with you to create trim that better fits your specific needs.
All of our trim is hand-bent, allowing us the flexibility to adjust angles, dimensions, bends, and profiles as needed. This gives customers more options when dealing with special conditions, transitions, repairs, additions, or custom project details.
Because custom trim is made specifically for each order, we encourage customers to carefully review and approve all trim profiles, dimensions, and details before production. Custom and non-standard trim pieces are non-returnable.
Delivery
Interstate Metals offers job site delivery for metal panels, trim, and related materials to help keep your project moving efficiently. Whether you are a homeowner, contractor, or builder, our goal is to deliver your order safely, accurately, and as scheduled.
To ensure a smooth delivery, please make sure the delivery location is accessible for our truck and that someone is available on site to receive the material.
What to Expect at Delivery
A customer, contractor, or authorized representative must be present at the time of delivery to receive the order and sign the packing slip.
Before signing, the recipient is responsible for inspecting the delivery and confirming:
All items have been received
Material counts are correct
Panels, trim, and other materials are in acceptable condition
The delivery matches the packing slip
Once the packing slip has been signed, the delivery is considered accepted. Interstate Metals is not responsible for missing items, incorrect counts, or material condition issues reported after the order has been signed for.
Unattended Deliveries
If no authorized person is present to receive the delivery, or if a prior leave-in-place agreement has been made, materials may be left at the job site. Once material is delivered and left unattended, Interstate Metals is not responsible for loss, theft, damage, weather exposure, or movement of the material.
Preparing for Your Delivery
To help prevent delays or issues, please make sure:
The job site address is correct and clearly marked
The delivery area is accessible, level, and safe for unloading
Someone authorized is present to receive and inspect the order
There is adequate space to place panels, trim, and accessories
Any special delivery instructions are provided before the scheduled delivery date
